Simulating twistronics in acoustic metamaterials

Twisted van der Waals (vdW) heterostructures have recently emerged as an attractive platform to study tunable correlated electron systems. However, the quantum mechanical nature of vdW makes their theoretical and experimental exploration laborious expensive. Here we present a simple mimic behavior twisted using acoustic metamaterials comprising interconnected air cavities in steel plate. Our classical analog bilayer graphene shows much same its counterpart, including mode localization at magic angle about 1.1 degrees. By tuning thickness interlayer membrane, reach regime strong interactions more than three times higher feasible range under pressure. In this regime, find high 6.01 degrees, corresponding far denser array localized modes real space further increasing interaction strength. results broaden capabilities for cross-talk between mechanics acoustics, can be used both simplified models exploring systems means translating interesting effects into acoustics.
